Hello Church,
This is John. Shawn is currently in the Hospital, which is why I haven't returned yet.
He and I, though mostly he, were preaching at the Hotel he mentioned to you in the last letter, and a large group of people opposed to our words approached us.
You would be proud, as I was then, that he maintained his composure. I read his last letter about how he was asking for prayers to not give in to any emotion that might come up, and your prayers were answered. He faithfully and patiently explained to them their need for salvation, and how outside of a single standard of sexual morality, any action can be seen as permissible.
He gave examples of certain countries without the laws of The Demos, whose age of sexual consent is as low as 9, and how anyone wishing to engage with a 9yr old simply needs to purchase a plane ticket to be declared innocent. He also gave examples of other cultures, from centuries ago, who had no age of consent, and declared that through the worldview of The Demos, there was no ground to call these cultures immoral. But what earned him his hospital stay, was the fact that the crowd had no answer when asked “Should the citizens of The Demos vote in such a way, that the age of consent is abolished, or that rape can not be punished, will there be any ground to stand upon to declare them immoral?”.
Let me rephrase, they did give answers, but their answers betrayed their beliefs. They said that “yes it would be immoral”. But when asked why, or to what standard they appealed, they gave nothing but screams and shrieks. Quite literally.
With this, Shawn spoke again of Jesus Christ, and His ability to forgive the pedophile as well as the rapist. And if neither sought the forgiveness of Christ, then both would meet the justice of God against their actions.
Which is why he is in the hospital and I am writing to you. One man, I believe he was a man, was the first to throw a punch at Shawn. It connected with the right side of face and sent him to the ground. When I dove on his body, someone grabbed my legs and dragged me away. Through the fury of fists that came against me, I could see another person stomp on his chest, causing him to spit up blood. I fought to free myself, landing a few kicks and punches against the people who kept me away, but Shawn never did. He accepted every punch and kick, and unless my ears were tricking me, he was preaching while they did it.
The Doctors said that he has three broken ribs, a broken nose, and his cheekbone below his right eye is bruised. They expect him to recover and be on his feet within 1 Month. What this means for his Missions Trip here, I have no idea. I will be speaking with him later today, and will keep you updated with as much information as I can.
